Studio Jester Blank digitized a selection of historical objects from the Stadtmuseum Berlin Foundation in cooperation with Kulturprojekte Berlin for the 'Berlin Exhibition' hosted by the Humboldt Forum.

The most challenging aspect of this particular job was the size difference between the objects at hand. While the globe and medieval catch fork were large, to comparatively normal in size.
The cigarette bag and especially the matchbox on the other hand, were by their very nature quite small. In order to overcome the difficulty of losing detail within the depth of field, we had to use a variety of on set, as well as post production techniques to ensure a beautifully sharp result throughout.
A great example, of where the differences between a traditional photograph and a high end render from 3D data are, can be seen in the image of the matchbox above, which is sharp throughout. This is only achievable via focus stacking, or like in this case, through 3D imaging.
